You can expect to spend time with the instructor in a small group setting where we encourage asking questions and practicing skills. Each time slot is two hours and will have up to three participants; you will choose your time slot during the registration process. You do not need to have any tractor or equipment experience to participate in this workshop. This workshop is for those 18 years old and older.
This workshop is perfect for farmers who might be interested in:
- Getting practice time running a larger tractor (75hp) with a cab and loader
- Exploring options and considerations if you are planning to purchase a tractor
- Understanding how to navigate hilly or difficult terrain
- PTO/3pt hitch implement use and putting it on/taking off the tractor
- Understanding how a tractor or machine can reduce physical labor needs on your farm
- Practice task planning and situational awareness for operating equipment
- Loader operation with a bucket or forks
We will be using a 75 hp tractor with a cab and a loader. The tractor is equipped with heat, air conditioning, an instructor seat, and Bluetooth radio for instructor/participant communication. The cab is ergonomically friendly and adjustable to meet steering wheel and seat preferences or needs.
In order to ensure we have all materials and space necessary for a quality learning experience, we do require that you tell us ahead of time what your goals or objectives are for your time spent with the instructor. We want to know what you want to learn so that we can make that happen for you!
Unfortunately, we won’t be covering maintenance such as greasing, oil changes, or air filter cleaning in this particular workshop. We will be offering maintenance-specific workshops in the summer and fall.
We are pleased to offer this workshop free of charge thanks to generous grant funding from the State of New Hampshire Department of Agriculture and Markets.
If you need an accommodation to participate in our programming, please contact Kendall Kunelius, kendall.kunelius@unh.edu prior to the event. Given ample time, we will make any reasonable effort to meet your needs, including language access services if requested, which will be provided free of charge.
