New Hampshire 4-H members ages 12 and older (as of January 1 of the current year) have a unique opportunity to exhibit their animal projects in 4-H shows at The Big E, at the Eastern States Exposition (ESE) in Springfield, MA. During these shows, 4-H members from NH join forces to compete against other New England 4-H states. Along with the animal shows, 4-H members can participate in a variety of contests related to their species like the beef cook off, dairy judging contest, grilled cheese contest, and more! Attending The Big E gives 4-H members an opportunity to dive deeper into their animal projects, meet like minded 4-H members from across the region, build bonds with their fellow NH 4-H members, and educate the public about their project work and the 4-H program.
Attending The Big E with 4-H is a milestone for many youth, and is an opportunity that must be earned. 4-H members who would like to attend must complete the “NH 4-H Qualifying for ESE” form and meet the qualifying criteria specific to their species.
Join Hannah Majewski, 4-H Animal Science Field Specialist, during this Zoom workshop to learn more about The Big E, and what 4-Hers need to do throughout the summer to prepare. The session will also include 4-H volunteers who lead the species teams at The Big E to share their experiences and answer questions.
