This session is also available on July 21 in Plymouth NH

Led by NH certified arborist and a board-certified master arborist, Lee Gilman, this hands-on training will guide participants through:

  • how to differentiate between maintenance pruning and renovation pruning

  • how to grade the structure and form of trees and shrubs

  • how to prioritize the most beneficial and efficient pruning opportunities

  • how pruning cut choices impact plant health, structure, and growth response over time

This session provides a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, with guidance from arborists and UNH Extension pruning mentors.  We’ll spend approximately one hour indoors discussing pruning concepts and standards, then we’ll move outdoors for hands-on learning and demonstration, working within the ANSI A300 Part 1 standards.

Participants should bring their own pruning equipment, including hand pruners, loppers, and pruning saws. A limited number of loaner tools will be available. The majority of this session will be held outdoors. Please dress for the weather and bring water.
