4th H Challenge [Curriculum]

Join the Challenge, Join the Fun

The 4th H has been revised:  Check it Out!

Looking for ways to make club meetings healthier and even more exciting?  The 4th H Challenge is a simple, fun way to grow healthy living

How does it work?

It’s easy. Serve a fruit or vegetable as a snack at three meetings. Serve water as the main beverage at six meetings. Add 15 minutes of physical activity at six meetings. Record the dates on the 4th H for Health Challenge Tracking Form (which is page 2 of 4th H for Health Challenge packet.)

Why is this important?

By drinking right, moving more, and snacking smart during 4-H meeting times, club leaders can encourage healthy choices.  Learning these habits early can have a lasting impact on the health of 4-H’ers.  Once the challenge is complete, we hope clubs will have established a new norm and will continue to practice healthy living:  the 4th H.

Is there paperwork?

The only thing to fill out is the Challenge Tracking Form. To receive pins and a club certificate, you can mail, scan and email, or fax your completed Tracker to your local Extension Office/4-H staff.

How can I make it fun?

Visit Healthy Kids Out of School to find resources.  From healthy snack recipes to fun, active games, the Healthy Kids Hub provides additional support and ideas to make it easy for club leaders.

And there's more...4th H for Health Curriculum!

Six additional lessons have been created to support 4-H clubs interested in learning more about healthy eating and physical activity.  Hands-on activities as well as an additional challenge allow 4-H'ers to explore health topics in depth.
