Ignite by 4-H event combines our Agri-Science, STEM, and Healthy Living summits into one experience that will be a catalyst for teens to explore 4-H. Dynamic speakers, industry experts, and hands-on experiences in career development and community change will empower teens to spark their passion, explore the issues they care about and create connections for success, today and tomorrow. Adult chaperones will also be able to take advantage of professional development aligned with the 4-H Thriving Model of Positive Youth Development.
Open to all enrolled New Hampshire 4-H members ages 14-18 years old.

Information You Need to Know
Criteria for Applying to IGNITE By 4-H
- Must be between the ages of 14-18 years old.
- Must plan on being a part of the NH Teen Leadership Program for the 2024-2025 year (County Teen Leadership, 4-H Community Ambassador, 4-H STEM Ambassador, 4-H Ag-Ambassador, Teen Conference Commissioner or other similar leadership roles).
- Must agree to engage in a “Lead to Change” project; a continuation of Ignite that delegates will see through with their adult advisor once returning to NH.
- A 4-H member can only attend IGNITE by 4-H one time per track as a participant.
Application Process for IGNITE By 4-H
- Application submitted by email to 4-H Field Specialist by October 1, 2024.
- (1) professional recommendation required.
- Candidates will be selected by the 4-H Field Specialists and chaperone advising team.
- Preference will be given to applicants that have taken active leadership roles at the county or state level, especially as a 4-H AgriScience Ambassador 4-H STEM Ambassador, or 4-H Barry Camp CIT.
Creating Your Video for the Application
- Although it is the Extension team viewing your video, we want you to present as if you are presenting your Lead to Change project to a local stakeholder of your choice with the following prompts:
- Introduce yourself and tell us who you are “presenting” to locally.
- Describe the issue and how it affects your community.
- Why is this issue important to you?
- Describe how you will address the issue (what change are you proposing).
- What would success (change) look like.
- Dress in business attire, as you are presenting yourself as a 4-Her that is traveling to see our representatives.
- Your video should be 2-4 minutes long; use the “Anatomy of an Elevator Pitch” to help guide you.
While You Are At IGNITE By 4-H
Participants will work with each other and with experts in the agricultural, STEM and healthy living communities in a collaborative, hands-on educational setting to dive deep into some of the most common topics of today.
Trip Information
Chosen participants will travel to with 4-H advisors from New Hampshire. All trip logistics will be handled by the NH 4-H State office from airport to lodging and return. Participants will be responsible for transportation to and from the airport, as well as any meals outside of meals provided at the conference.
There is a $300 Family Contribution required for all National Award trip attendees but this is not intended to be a barrier for participation. Please contact 4-H Administrative Assistant Emily.Pincince@unh.edu should this fee present a challenge.
