Community Ambassadors is open to any New Hampshire teen between the ages of 14-18 years old, and participated as a County Youth Leadership Team member and/or other statewide leadership role for at least (1) year.
4-H Community Ambassadors have the drive and motivation to make the best better. They will participate in ongoing training to hone skills that will help them uphold the program’s pillars of career and academic development, leadership development and creating a teach back/give back capstone project. They will promote 4-H throughout the state by effectively telling their 4-H story to a variety of audiences such as legislators, donors, volunteers and potential 4-Hers. 4-H Community Ambassadors are teens that connect with one another and believe they have something to share with their peers and community.
Community Ambassador Interest Form, Letter of Reference, Essay or Video are due July 1st .
The 4-H Community Ambassador Program runs from October - June.
More Information:
- Must be between the ages of 14-18 years old
- Must have participated as a County Youth Leadership Team member and/or other statewide leadership role for at least (1) year
- Be available for in-person and virtual meetings and have a desire to collaborate and learn from others
- Be willing to travel throughout the state for in-person meetings
- Willingness to prioritize 4-H Community Ambassadors as 4-H “project”
- Interest Packet submitted by email to 4-H Teen Leadership Field Specialist by July 1 st
- Provide either a two to four (2-4) minute creative video or a 1-2 page double-spaced essay answering the prompts found on the application checklist page
- Include one (1) reference from a community member, 4-H leader, or teacher
- Virtual interviews will be held for applicants that meet all the above criteria
- Decisions will be made by Teen Leadership Field Specialist and Community Ambassador advisors
- Be welcoming and inclusive, strive for the highest level of communication.
- Be a positive peer role model to all NH 4-H youth and teens.
- Develop and facilitate T(w)een Winter Retreat in February.
- Create and present a workshop for 4-H Adult Volunteers at the Volunteer Leader Conference.
- Develop and engage visitors to NH Farm, Forest & Garden Expo in hands-on activity while sharing 4-H message.
- Develop personal and team goals to achieve throughout the year driven by your spark to teach back/give back to the 4-H community.
- Collaborate with community partners to bring learning opportunities to this group and NH peers.
- Serve as teen leadership recruiter and 4-H brand marketer.
- As a highly collaborative endeavor requiring high participation; if a team member misses more than two (2) meetings the advising team reserves the right to ask them to step off the team.
