UNH Extension Seeks a 4-H Program Manager, Enrollment
The 4-H program manager for enrollment plays a key role in connecting youth across New Hampshire with the University of New Hampshire (UNH) through statewide 4-H community-to-campus events. These immersive experiences highlight UNH’s commitment to prepare young people for academic and career success, foster early engagement and help youth envision themselves as future UNH students. This is a full-time, in-person, benefited position located on the Durham, N.H., campus and will have occasional night and weekend programmatic responsibilities. As part of UNH’s land-grant outreach mission, 4-H empowers youth to become “Beyond Ready”: equipped with the skills, confidence, and aspirations to lead in their communities. Reporting to the 4-H program team leader, the program manager oversees event operations, logistics, promotion, and enrollment tracking via the 4-H Z-Suite database to demonstrate program impact and reach.
Duties/Responsibilities
Event Coordination and Youth Engagement (65%)
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to expand program reach
- Develop promotional materials
- Oversee N.H. 4-H social media and website
- Engage UNH students and clubs in 4-H programming
- Supervise undergraduate student interns and volunteers
- Lead planning and execution of statewide 4-H to UNH events (e.g., Youth Leadership Retreat, Farm to School, Grit to Grow Summit, Volunteer Leaders Conference, Animal Science Bonanza)
- Ensure that all educational programming is designed and conducted in full accordance with civil rights, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action (AA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) policies and procedures
Program Operations and Enrollment Management (25%)
- Manage administrative systems and operations for the 4-H program
- Oversee financial transactions and marketing materials
- Supervise support staff Administer Z-Suite enrollment database; provide technical support and oversee fee processing
- Maintain relationships with UNH units and participate in relevant committees and work groups
Professional Development (5%)
- Identify individual professional development goals in cooperation with supervisor and seek training in subject area expertise and essential skills related to the position
Additional Duties (5%)
- Coordinate facility usage and resolve logistical issues
- Represent N.H. 4-H at relevant events
- Perform other duties as needed to support program goals
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in community development, education, youth development, sociology, or a related field and at least two years of experience supporting the development and delivery of educational programs and outreach activities in communities, or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid N.H. driver’s license or other effective personal transportation means
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in data management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Administrative and organizational skills
- Successful record of collaborating effectively with coworkers and the public
- Bachelor’s degree in community development, education, youth development, sociology, or a related field and at least two years of experience supporting the development and delivery of educational programs and outreach activities in communities, or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Valid N.H. driver’s license or other effective personal transportation means and willingness to travel for work. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current federal rate.
- The ability to be flexible with work schedule to work occasional weekends and evenings for program-related events and meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in delivering teaching and training to diverse audiences
- Experience developing and managing volunteers
- Experience in marketing/social media outreach
- Experience writing grant proposals
