Carroll County 4-H Leader Awards
Stepping-Up Award: Dotty Burrows
Dotty continually steps up and gives so much of her time and passion to the 4-H program and the larger community in Sandwich. She runs her quilt raffle at the Sandwich Fair and donates 100% of the profits back into the 4-H program for youth scholarships. Thanks to her time and efforts she has helped youth attend numerous 4-H events and programs throughout the years. In addition, she supports other club leaders by offering to teach sewing to their 4-H members.
Rookie of the Year: Debbie Haire
Although Debbie was a 4-H leader many years ago, this past year was her first year running her new 4-H club Field & Forest. She does an amazing job engaging Cloverbuds and older members on fun outdoor and environmental projects. We are lucky to have her as a volunteer sharing her passion and expertise with the youth in the Bartlett/Glen area.
Innovative Ideas Award: Penny Richards
Penny has been a 4-H leader for 25 years and she keeps things fresh and exciting for her club members. She is constantly coming up with new and creative arts and crafts projects that pull in the four seasons and fosters the interests of her 4-H members.
Collaboration & Outreach Award: Liz Fullerton
Liz is getting this award for her tremendous help with 4-H outreach. At our 2019 Sandwich Fair she solicited donations for our 4-H food booth. She reached out to specific companies and got enough donations to cover everything for the entire weekend of the fair. She is a true asset to the Carroll County 4-H program, and helps ‘Make the Best Better.’
Spirit of Service Learning: Kim & Chris Krotz
Although they only just finished their second year as club leaders, Kim & Chris continually amaze me with their ideas and passion for working with 4-H youth in Sandwich. This past year their club built an official 4-H corn hole game set and donated it to the Sandwich Recreation Department so many kids could benefit from using it. What a great way to teach their 4-H’ers the power of giving back to their community.
