Looking for a way to make the healthy choice the easy choice at your 4-H club meetings?  How about the 4th H Challenge?  Let's start with the 4-1-1 on the 3-6-6.

The 3-6-6 stands for the number of meetings you have to meet healthy goals.

  • At three meetings serve a fruit or vegetable as a snack.
  • At six meetings, serve water as the main beverage.
  • At six meetings add 15 minutes of physical activity.

Record the dates on the 4th H for Health Challenge Tracking Form. Return to your local Extension/4-H Office to receive a club certificate and recognition pins.

Why is this the 4th H Challenge important? By drinking right, moving more, and snacking smart during 4-H meeting times, we are encouraging healthy choices. Learning these habits early can have a lasting impact on the health of 4-H’ers. Once the challenge is complete, we hope clubs will have established a new norm and will continue to practice healthy living: the 4th H.

And there's more: 4th H for Health Curriculum! Six additional lessons have been created to support 4-H clubs interested in learning more about healthy eating and physical activity. Hands-on activities and an additional challenge allow 4-H'ers to explore health topics in depth. Please check out the 4th H for Health Curriculum. This could be a great way to develop new ideas for County Activities Day!
