UNH Extension Seeks a Part-Time Administrative Assistant in Rockingham County

The part-time administrative assistant, located at UNH Extension’s Rockingham County office in Brentwood, N.H., provides professional, high-quality administrative support to UNH Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers across many program areas. This position enhances the effectiveness of Extension programming by serving as a reliable point of contact for the public, supporting events and program logistics, managing routine office operations, and maintaining accurate records and communications. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong customer service, and the ability to work independently. This is an in-person position.

Job Duties

Program Support (60%)

  • Support staff with logistics and arrangements for workshops, meetings, volunteer trainings, and public programs. This may include coordinating registrations, tracking attendance, and preparing program materials.
  • Assist in drafting, formatting, and posting content for newsletters, social media, and website updates.
  • Help ensure all communications reflect consistent branding and messaging aligned with UNH and UNH Extension guidelines.

Office Support (30%)

  • Provide general office support, including data entry, printing, calendar management, and routine purchasing/expense tracking.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for public inquiries by phone, email, and in person, routing questions to appropriate staff and following up as needed.
  • Maintain organized office systems, files, and records in compliance with UNH policies, handling information with accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Support internal coordination among Rockingham County staff by sharing updates, maintaining shared calendars/materials, and helping keep communication timely and clear.

Professional Development (10%)

  • With supervisor support, pursue learning opportunities that maintain or strengthen skills relevant to the role (e.g., software tools, office systems, customer service, task management).
  • Actively participate in the Extension Assistants Team to support professional development and foster statewide connection.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of administrative/office support experience; OR bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of administrative/office support experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar (e.g., Google Workspace) and comfortable using web-based tools
  • Willingness to learn and use new software and UNH systems (purchasing, registrations, invoicing)
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Effective time management, including managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and the public

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UNH Cooperative Extension programs
  • Experience working in a public service or educational setting
  • Experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Qualtrics, Drupal (web content), Microsoft Teams, Workday, or Salesforce

Compensation Pay Range:

$20.00 - $22.90 per hour
