License Preparation for Private Applicators

UNH Extension offers pesticide safety training courses designed to help agricultural producers prepare for the state exams required for a pesticide applicator license. These licenses are necessary for applying pesticides in the production of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, forage crops, and ornamentals.

Courses are held at three locations across New Hampshire and include two half-days of instruction followed by a third day dedicated to taking the state exams.

The fee for the training is $60.00 per person, which covers both instructional days.

Newport, NH – Monday March 9, 16, 23 2026 - UNH Extension Sullivan County office, 24 Main St.

Conway, NH – Tuesday March 10, 17, 24 2026 - UNH Extension Carroll County office, 73 Main St.

Goffstown, NH – Thursday March 12, 19, 26 2026 - UNH Extension Hillsborough County office, 329 Mast Rd.

Note: This training does NOT meet the requirements for the Supervisory Registration Certification-General Use

 

License Preparation for NEW Commercial Applicators 

This course is designed for individuals who are not yet licensed and want to prepare for the New Hampshire state commercial applicator exams, focusing on core topics and pesticide rules and regulations.

The course is held at a central location in New Hampshire and includes a total of 6 hours of instruction.

The training fee is $60.00 per person and covers the full course.

Concord, NH – Monday March 30, 2026 - NH DMV, 23 Hazen Dr.

License Preparation for Commercial Applicators: Supervisory Registration Certification-General Use

These courses satisfy the training requirements for the entry-level general use commercial applicator's license. Each course consists of two-days and you must attend both to receive credit. Licensed applicators may also participate in these courses. Each course is approved for 8 recertification credits.  Both the Core course and Category course(s)s are required prior to taking the state exams.

Recertification Credit Available

The UNH Cooperative Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program offers twelve online classes that you can complete from the comfort of your own home. These convenient, self-paced modules are designed to help you build essential knowledge and skills to protect yourself, your family, the public, and the environment from pesticide misuse.

Each training module includes an outline, PowerPoint and/or audio narration, videos and/or assigned readings. At the end of each module, you'll complete a 10-question quiz—pass with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate of participation, which you can submit with your license renewal paperwork.

There is no longer a 3-course cap—you can now take as many of these online classes as you'd like to accumulate recertification credits toward your pesticide license renewal.
