There are many ways to repurpose your Christmas Tree after the holidays, but one of the most important can help protect our wintering birds. With the leaves gone, shelter from the winter winds, snow, and cold is at a premium. Your Christmas tree can provide much needed cover for our wintering birds. Setting your Christmas tree up near feeding stations and/or using it for bird feeders, helps wildlife that share our yards, survive the winter.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology provides more tips and suggestions in their article, Your Christmas Trees and Holiday Wreaths can Double as Bird Habitat.
