Jonathan Ebba has been working with NH’s green industry as Extension Field Specialist in Hillsborough County since 2018. In January 2021, his position moves to Strafford County where he will continue to provide research-based education and technical assistance to growers, landscapers, and horticultural professionals throughout the state as Field Specialist and chair of Extension’s Landscape and Greenhouse area of expertise team. In his role as the Strafford County Food and Agriculture Field Specialist, Ebba will serve as a resource to all agricultural producers in Strafford County, connecting them with the expertise of Extension’s food and agriculture team.
Prior to joining Extension, Ebba managed the UNH Thompson School horticulture program where he taught courses in greenhouse crop production, greenhouse design and management, and hydroponics, and where he led students in growing and selling ornamental and vegetable plants through the student-run garden center and hydroponic facility. His background includes many years of experience as a commercial grower as well, having spent more than 7 years as a grower/manager at Lake Street Garden Center in Salem, and 7 at Orchard Hill Greenhouses in Londonderry, as well as having worked during summers for six years at Mack’s Apples in Londonderry.
Ebba earned a BA in Biology from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, and an M.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire in Plant Biology, studying factors affecting post-production quality of potted plants.
