A dynamic community leader with New England roots has been named executive director of the 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire. Avery Adam is a native of Connecticut with extensive nonprofit experience. Her career began at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society after receiving a master’s degree in health promotion and wellness management. With stops at the American Red Cross, Children’s Hospital Boston and the New England Organ Bank, she has always put others’ needs first.

Six years ago Adam was elected to the Westford School Committee, where she has dedicated her time to ensuring students receive a quality education. She is currently working in marketing and community outreach at a local community center.

Adam was raised with a love of science and nature. Growing up, her family occasionally rehabilitated wild animals. She is married with two children ages 15 and 16. In 2013 they officially became a part of the 4-H family by joining the local canine club. In addition to two dogs, Adam’s family has a cat, a fish, four snakes and a leopard gecko.

“Serving as the executive director of the 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire is a dream job for me,” said Adam. “It is an opportunity to give back to an organization that has given so much to my family. I will hit the ground running as we look to diversify fundraising efforts that mirror the transitions we have all experienced in the past year. ”

Since 1958, this foundation has been primarily responsible for private resource development for 4-H within the Granite State. Ken La Valley, UNH vice provost for University Outreach and Engagement and director of UNH Cooperative Extension, is excited to welcome Adam on board. “The 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire helps youth reach their fullest potential by providing financial resources for programs that build life skills. From agriculture to wellness to STEM, the support 4-H receives through the foundation is critical. We look forward to having Avery Adam at the helm.”

Adam will spearhead fundraising efforts for 4-H such as the Tom Fairchild Friend of 4-H Golf Tournament, The (603) Challenge and annual appeals.
