Funding opportunities for 2 and 4 year degrees, certificate programs, and training in the trades

The following scholarships are administered by NH 4-H. Applications are usually accepted at your county office, but double check the scholarship guidelines to be sure. 


Charles W. Buck Memorial Scholarship 

This scholarship is given to a second, third or fourth year undergraduate student in agricultural studies, including pre-veterinary. 

Amount: $1000    Deadline:  April 


UNH 4-H Scholarship

Elligible candidates are students enrolled in UNH beginning in the fall 2019 semester. Students must have been a NH 4-H program participant at least one year. Award provided each year of UNH enrollment.  

Amount: $500 per year of NH 4-H participation, up to $5,000 per year    Deadline:  Part of UNH application

Agriculture Future of America Scholarships

Deadline:  March 1, 2024           Amount: Varies in amount, at least $1,600

Awarded to graduating high school seniors and current undergrad students enrolled in agriculture or food related degree programs.

American Occupational Therapy Foundation

Over 50 scholarships are available from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation and state occupational therapy associations. Applicants complete only one online form to apply for all qualifying scholarships. 2023-24 cycle closed. 

American Quarter Horse Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: depends on the specific scholarship                Amount: varies in amount

Scholarships fund students completing their undergraduate or graduate degrees, involvement in local FFA and 4-H, financial needs, and academic achievement will determine the recipients.

ASABE Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2024           Amount: $2,000

Undergrad biological or agricultural engineer student with a GPA of at least 2.5.

ASHRAE Regional Scholarships

Deadline: December 1              Amount: $3,000 - $5,000 

Scholarships are awarded for the academic year following the application deadline beginning with the fall semester. Full time, undergrad engineering student with GPA of at least 3.0 in the top 30% of their class.

Bring Back the Trades

Deadline: Due the last day of each month                  Amount: varies in amount 

Monthly scholarships of $1,000 are awarded each month. Applicant must be enrolled in a trade school or post-secondary education to acquire training in trade skills. 

Bryan A. Champion Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: applications accepted between March and May 31, 2024          Amount: varies in amount

Recipients selected based on financial need, resume and recommendations.

CME Beef Industry Scholarship

2023-24 scholarships have been awarded.    Amount: $1,500

Awarded to students pursuing careers in the beef industry to grow as industry leaders. Be a graduating high school senior or full-time undergraduate student who will be enrolled in a two- or four-year institution for the 2024-2025 school year.

Delmar Cengage Learning-NAAE Upper Division Scholarships

Deadline: April 15 - June 15, 2024                Amount: varies in amount

Support applicants in agriculture education.

ESE 4-H Beef Scholarship

Deadline: August 1, 2024                        Amount: (2) $1,000 scholarships

The 4-H Beef Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students who have participated in the Eastern States Exposition 4-H Beef Program.

ESE Trustees Scholarship                   Amount: varies

Deadline: May 1, 2024

The ESE Trustees Scholarship is offered to students residing in New England who have participated in the Exposition’s youth programs.

Farm Credit East

Deadline: 2024 deadline has passed. Check in January 2025 to apply for the 2025 scholarship.             Amount: $1500    

Pursuing full time post high school education and demonstrates interest in agriculture, forestry, and commercial fishing fields.  Must have a permanent address in Farm Credit East service area.

Fisher Cats Scholar Athletes

Deadline: April 5, 2024                Amount: $1,500 

Must be planning on attending post secondary schooling.

Foundation for Seacoast Health Scholarships

Deadline: May 1, 2024                 Amount: $2,000 - $5,000 

Awarded to those pursuing health related undergrad or grad degrees.

Graphic Communications Scholarship Fund of New England

Deadline: Info for 2024 not updated              Amount:  $2,500

Applicants may be high school seniors, recent high school graduates, or current students enrolled in an accredited college or university that offers a certificate or degree related to graphic communications. Must be residents of New England.

The Hagan Scholarship

Deadline: March 1, 2024                   Amount: Up to $6,000 for eight semesters

Awarded to those pursuing a four year education.

Horticultural Research Institute Scholarships

Deadline: applications accepted between March and May 31, 2024         Award: varies

J. Fielding Reed Undergraduate Soil and Plant Sciences Scholarship

Deadline: March  19, 2024                           Amount: $2,000

Kildee Undergraduate Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2024                              Amount: $1000     

To be awarded to a Junior/Senior status college student working toward a Bachelor of Science in Dairy/Animal Science or has a major emphasis on dairy through another major.

Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation

Deadline: April 1, 2024

Each application is screened on the basis of financial need, extra-curricular activities, scholastic rating, the student’s career goals, and plans for college. Award amounts are determined by rating given by screening committee, based on the need of the applicant and the quality of the application.

  • Graduates of Laconia High School, Gilford High School, or Belmont High School in NH
  • Legal residents of Laconia, Gilford, or Belmont, New Hampshire. Students in surrounding towns and schools may qualify for a specific donor preference or requirement

Manning & Zimmerman Distracted Driving Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2024                              Amount: $1,000 

The students who submit the best video or written essay on the topic of distracted driving will be selected as the recipients.

National Dairy Shrine/Dairy Marketing Inc. Milk Marketing Scholarships

Deadline: March 1 - April 15, 2024               Amount: $1,500 – $3,000 

U.S. students attending schools, colleges or universities in the United States and majoring in dairy or other agricultural related fields.

National Garden Club (NGC) Scholarships

Deadline: February 1, 2024                        Amount: $4,000

One-time award for full-time students majoring in fields of study related to horticulture and the environment, in plant sciences, agriculture and related or allied subjects. Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA.

National Protein & Food Distributors Association Scholarship

Deadline: April 26, 2024                        Amount: $5000   

Applicant must be a member of the NPFDA and be a full time undergrad or grad student.

New England Regional Student Program-Tuition Break

Amount of award varies

Tuition discount for residents of six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont). Students pay reduced out-of-state tuition at public colleges or universities in other New England states when enrolling in eligible majors and programs.

New England Employee Benefits Council Scholarship Program

Deadline: April 1, 2024                 Amount: $1,000 – $3,000 

Students who have completed a minimum of one semester at a New England college.  Student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and have an interest in studies in communications and public works.

New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

Deadline: Due date based on program.                Amount: $250 – $7,500 

Award based on financial need, community service, school activities, and academic skill. 4-year program Bachelor's Degree deadline: April 12, 2024; 2-year program Assoc. Degree/Certificate or professional license: rolling deadline until December 13, 2024

New Hampshire Farm Bureau Scholarships   

Deadline: Varies               Amount: Various

New Hampshire State Grange

Deadline: July 1, 2024             

First preference will be given to Grange members and their direct relatives, and then open to non-member and New Hampshire residents. Applicant must be enrolled to an accredited post secondary educational institution.

PixelPlex Bi-Annual Scholarship    

Deadline: June 5, 2024                       Amount: $2,000

 Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident; enrolled (or accepted with plans to attend) in a college or university in the United States; field of study must be related to science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), economics, or business.

Plan New Hampshire Scholarship and Fellowship Program

Deadline: April 1, 2024                     Amount: $1,200 – $5,000

Supports students from New Hampshire who is studying a field related to design and development of New Hampshire's environment.

Reuben Trane Scholarships

Deadline: December 1, 2024                         Amount : $5,000

Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA and show strong character, leadership and academic achievements.  Restricted to students studying Engineering/Technology

The Race for Education Scholarships

Deadline: May 3, 2024                Amount: Up to $5,000 (multiple awards available)

Available to students pursuing careers in the equine or agriculture industry.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

Deadline:  between January and May 15, 2024               Amount: varies

Awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, those who serve others, and is a resident of New England.  The applicant must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.

UNITIL  
Deadline: March 1, 2024                 Amount of Award: $5,000

Awarded to students from New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math.    Applicants must reside (primary address) and attend a school located in one of the cities or towns in our Unitil’s service territories.

Usrey Family Scholarship

Deadline: between March and May 31, 2024                 Amount of Award: $1,000 

The Usrey Family Scholarship awards one $1,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate landscape horticulture program or related discipline at a two- or four-year institution. Students in vocational agriculture programs will also be considered. Must have a minimum grade point average overall of 2.25 based on a scale of 4.0, and a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a scale of 4.0 in their major.

William J. Adams, Jr. and Marijane E. Adams Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2024                           Amount of Award: $2,000 

A yearly scholarship will be given to one undergraduate student, with a special interest in agricultural machinery product design and development, who meets the following criteria: (1) Is a biological or agricultural engineering student; (2) Has completed at least one full-year as an undergraduate student; (3) Is not a graduating senior in the semester/term of application; (4) Is enrolled in an engineering curriculum that is accredited by ABET or CEAB; (5) Has an overall GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale); and (6) Can attest to the need for financial aid.

Yanmar/SAE Scholarship

Deadline: February 28, 2024                        Amount of Award: $1,000 

Eligible applicants will be U.S. residents entering their senior year of undergraduate engineering or enrolled in a graduate engineering or related science program. Applicants must be pursuing a course of study or research related to the conservation of energy in transportation, agriculture and construction, and power generation. Emphasis will be placed on research or study related to the internal combustion engine.
