Late summer and early fall is when the risk of mosquito-borne diseases is the highest in New Hampshire. So far, there have been 12 batches of NH mosquitoes that have tested positive for diseases… all of them West Nile Virus. More are likely to turn up before the disease season ends (with a hard frost).
The risk is highest in the Manchester area, though Rockingham county and Keene also have slightly elevated risk. To reduce your chances of becoming a victim, reduce your chances of getting bitten. Choose clothing that exposes little skin and consider wearing repellant, especially within an hour or two of sunset.
