Try this new and delicious smoothie recipe using beets and frozen fruits. Visit your farmers market or farm stand to purchase fresh produce to make this smoothie. You could also pick-your-own berries at pick-our-own farms across the state and freeze the berries yourself. Visit the New Hampshire Farm Products Map to find a market, stand or pick-your-own location.

A fabulous beet recipe

Beet Smoothie

Serves: 2

Serving size: 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt
1 frozen banana, peeled
1/2 medium beet
1 tsp. fresh ginger
1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries)
1 cup ice cubes
1 cup water

Directions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in the order given into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
