Extension staff took home two major awards at the 2022 National Association for Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) Conference held in June in Indianapolis, Indiana. NACDEP is an organization dedicated to improving the visibility, coordination, professional status and resource base of community and economic development Extension programs and professionals across the country.
“New Hampshire had a strong showing at this year’s NACDEP conference,” said Charlie French, program leader for UNH Extension’s Community and Economic Development (CED). “Members of the UNH CED team presented three sessions, received one national award and a regional top honors award. In spite of the small size of our community and economic development team, we consistently have a strong presence at the conference and lead a number of national efforts”.
The conference’s awards recognize outstanding work, accomplishments relative to scholarly and creative activities, teaching and/or research effectiveness, and evidence or collaboration with others who help meet community development needs. UNH received the following:
- Excellence in Teamwork National Award for “Building Your Virtual Facilitation Skills.” Sue Cagle from UNH Extension was part of the team that developed this national curriculum for enhancing virtual facilitation skills, which is now being used in multiple states and regions across the country.
- Excellence in Educational Materials Northeast Regional Award and National Runner-up for a new book called Building Rural Community Resilience through Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This award-winning team was comprised of Charlie French, Molly Donovan, Shannon Rogers, Casey Porter, and Jared Reynolds, along with a dozen other collaborators from around the country.
