Four UNH Extension staff received a major accolade at this year’s National Association for Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) Conference held in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho April 30 – May 3, 2023. NACDEP is an organization dedicated to improving the visibility, professional status and resources for community and economic development Extension professionals across the country.

This year’s National Cross Program Team Award went to Kendra Lewis, Melissa Lee, Alyssa Lemmermann, and Sue Cagle for “Building Community Resilience: A Collaborative Approach for Improving Rural Community Health.”  The project is focused on bringing together partners in three New Hampshire places—Kearsarge, Mascoma, and Haverhill/ Woodsville—to identify key priorities, develop action teams and build collaboration and leadership skills. Funding comes from a USDA Rural Health and Safety grant.

The conference’s awards recognize outstanding work, accomplishments relative to scholarly and creative activities, teaching and/or research effectiveness, and evidence or collaboration with others who help meet community development needs.

In addition to winning a national award, three Extension staff—Scott Slattery, Jada Lindblom, and Charlie French—were invited to present on topics ranging from workforce development in the preservation trades to fostering energy resilience in remote places.

Charlie French, leader of UNH Extension’s Community Development Program said “Once again, New Hampshire had a strong showing at this year’s NACDEP conference. For such a small state, we shined in front of our national peers”.  Congratulations to our award winners and presenters at this year’s NACDEP conference!
