Carrots on a table

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule § 112.22(c) requires “At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration”.  Three versions of this course are currently being offered, and fully covered farms are required to complete one.  The course may also be of interest to farms that are not fully covered but want to ensure they are following food-safe practices.  Courses are being offered in person, but due to the public health concerns surrounding COVID-19, online versions of this course are also being offered.

One option is a self-paced three-week course called “Online Delivery”. The benefits of this extended timeframe include allowing participants time to digest the content topic-by-topic. There is a temporary discount for this type of course until December 31, 2021. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the cost will be $125 with the coupon code “GROWER21”.  Once this discount expires, the price will return to $450.

The second option is to take a "Remote Delivery Course”.  These courses are between one to six days, and are delivered through online video conferencing software, like Zoom or Webex.  The price of these trainings range from $0 to $350, and are offered in English or Spanish.

If you are not sure if you need this course please visit our FSMA Produce Safety Online Tool or contact a member of our FSMA team.
