The New Hampshire Association of Conservation Districts is holding its annual meeting November 1 and 2 in Manchester. The theme of the meeting is The Future of Forestry & Agriculture, and several UNH Cooperative Extension field specialists, along with partners, are some of the experts presenting programs.
In the forestry track
Ethan Belair will discuss upland invasive plant species. He will focus on New Hampshire rules and regulations, characteristics and identifying features, and control measures of some of the most aggressive non-native plants in the Granite State.
Steve Roberge, with partners from UVM Extension, will present about the growth of maple syrup production in New Hampshire and the U.S., and the role research and innovation have played in that growth.
In the agriculture track
George Hamilton will discuss irrigation management in a changing climate.
Jonathan Ebba will speak about the methods, benefits and drawbacks of indoor agriculture, including aquaponics and hydroponics.
